Doing hair, nails, etc, beautifying people has always been something that i like to do. I also have a love for cooking/baking. Im in my early 30′s and the reason why I am where i am is because I became a mom young and i needed to work to take care of bills, have insurance, 401k, etc. But I have been doing this for 10 years an I am soooooooo extremely bored. I dread waking up each day to do what i do. I realized that i dont want to do anything in the insurance or sales business. I am done with customer service, meeting quotas im sick of it. I am ready to bring forth my creative side. Im just so concerned that I will switch and what if im not happy. Does anyone know of anyone that has made such a drastic switch so late? I feel like Im jus too old, like i missed the bus or something. Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

I’m currently at a community college right now. I’ll be done with all my general education requirements by December and will transfer to a 4-year university in Fall 2010. In the meantime, I am planning to go to beauty school to get a cosmetology license starting January since I feel that should do something productive with my time. However, for insurance purposes, I need to be a full-time student with 12 credits in order to get a discount. If i did go to beauty school, I would be going about 25 hours a week. Therefore, would beauty school count towards that even if they don’t give out credits? Thanks in advance!

I need to get a job that offers health insurance but don’t really want to go to college. Now I know it’s important, but don’t want to have my husband being the only one working. I will consider a job that only needs a year or less of college/training. I have 2 years experience from a vocational school in business applied technology, mainly secretarial stuff, and a year of customer service but didn’t like dealing with the customers so much. Any suggestionsns? I wanted to do hair, but realize I won’t get health insurance and probably won’t make too much. Help please!

I currently live in a private lake with 3,000 homes and live with my mother and father. The majority of the folks living here are middle aged and have kids. I am 20 years old and a graduate of high school. I’m currently unemployed and seeking a good college for business. The lake I live in has a barn-like building with 3 small units. There is an insurance business, a carry-out pizza, and an open unit that I thought would be a great place to put a tanning & hair salon. It sits right in front of a lodge, and a marina. We also have a gas station at the front of the lake. That is the only small business’s we have on the West and East side of this lake. I do not have money to invest yet but if I get an input from anyone on how good of an idea this is it would be very helpful!
I live in Ohio also. Thanks!
